Meet the team behind Physio First

Lauren Naughton is the founder of Physio First and is a Roscommon native. Lauren studied Health, Fitness and Leisure Studies in IT Tralee before graduating with a First Class Honors Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of East London in 2015. Lauren spent over two years working in London doing rotations before jetting off to the other side of the world. For over two years Lauren worked and travelled around both New Zealand and Australia before returning home just before the pandemic. She has gained vast experience in the treatment and management of a wide range of people including those with disabilities. She has helped people return to full function following acute injury or an episode of pain, and understands the importance of  progressive rehabilitation for everyone using various methods including clinical Pilates classes. Lauren also completed training in the McKenzie Method which she often uses in the clinic. This method empowers the client to treat themselves with prescribed exercises – something Lauren is passionate about.

When Lauren was in Australia her time was spent working in the area of paediatrics in Sydney. Lauren was fortunate to have the guidance of very experienced clinicians to draw on day to day, She worked with all children, typical and with a disability, to improve their ability through the use of methods such as movement training, strengthening, exercise, stretching, intensive therapy programmes, adapted equipment, motor learning and play as well as education. Lauren has brought a lot of these skills home and uses them to families in the local community.

Lauren has a deep understanding of how different muscles and systems interact in the human body to produce pain and strives to understand your injury and help you understand your body better to reduce pain and disability. By using a mixture of manual therapy, flexibility and exercise, she aims to target weak areas of your body to help you heal and return to activity faster.

In her spare time you will find Lauren running, walking, hiking or playing GAA. As a former Roscommon All-Ireland winner, Lauren is also a keen sports person herself and understands the passion, dedication and desire that people have for a speedy return to full performance.
